Items Completed in August
Crazy busy month, as usual. However, I’m rocking a bunch of stuff.
Items Underway in August:
2. Have a kid with Kate.
As of this posting, we are 13 weeks and one day along. Due date is roughly March 11, 2012. Nine months before my fortieth birthday, and approximately nine months before the end of this 101 Things in 1001 Days cycle.
32. Build at least six custom frames for paying customers. (1/6)
Fang’s 29er frame is done. Justin’s 26er isn’t far behind.
41. Work on my wheelbuilding skills, get completely comfortable with the process.
I’ve been doing a lot more wheel truing at the shop this year, and that’s built up my confidence in my ability to do this. Over the course of the winter, I plan to build two new wheelsets. And buy myself a truing stand for my home workshop.
49. Complete the 100 push-ups program.
51. Get my six-pack abs back.
Also underway — this is a combination of things, the reduced soda (and other crap) intake, and getting ready to do the 200 Sit-Ups Program. I’ll probably be adding kettlebells shortly, too.
54. Stop drinking soda.
In the space of a month, I’ve reduced my intake by 50%. Two things helped with this — first, I started logging my intake, and was horrified. And then I thought about what Kate said when she quit smoking — that she had a choice, that she could be a smoker or a mom, but not both. I have a choice. I choose to quit.
61. Have at least three months’ of salary (Kate’s and mine) in savings.
When I set this up, I should have said “income”, as I meant post-tax. I’m still treating it as post-tax. Between our IRAs and our savings account, we’re sitting at about 50% of goal. Rawk.
64. Start a college fund for the future kids.
I’ve started doing research for this, trying to decide where to set up the plan, and am working to understand the benefits.
72. Design at least 3 new fonts. (0/3)
This is underway! I plan to have two freebies and a new pay font up and online in late September.
74. Find a cool time-lapse subject, make video.
Well, I had the idea. I was going to timelapse the movers as they moved everything into our new house, but given the absolute insanity of moving day, this proved to be wildly impractical. I’ve got an idea for a new one that I’ll be doing during September.
89. Buy a D-SLR camera.
Talked to A-train, as he wants to offload his Canon Rebel XTi. Looks like I’ll be buying it from him in September.
95. Set up a hummingbird feeder on the deck.
Bought this at the end of July to set up on the property, but still haven’t put it up. I’ll knock that out on Labor Day weekend.
