Bikes Are Awesome

So you’ve probably figured out that I like bicycles, yeah? It’s another full weekend of bike stuff, punctuated by other miscellaneous stuff.

For starters, I got the 29er built.

Rigid 29er MTB
My first frame, painted and built.

As pictured, she doesn’t have any brake cables. That’s been resolved, and I plan to get some better pictures of her soon. Perhaps even tonight. The final build kit is a pretty schweet one — a RaceFace Evolve XC crankset, Thomson stem and seatpost, Chris King headset, and the wheels. Oh, the wheels. Chris King singlespeed disc hubs laced 32-hole/3-cross to a pair of DT Swiss TK 7.1d rims. She’s a monster. I’ll probably ride her over to Peacock Groove tonight and say “hi” to Erik and Vincent. Tomorrow night, she’s going for the Night Ride over at Theo Wirth. And I might even go rock Lebanon Hills on Sunday morning before the Vikes-Cowboys “Desperation Bowl”…

Saturday is going to be a day of building like mad. I want to get the chainstays in-place on the commuter (almost there as it is), and if time permits, get the seatstays in there as well. If my brother’s lugs have arrived, I’ll be starting to mark those up for doing the cut-outs. And I’ve got to get started on my pursuit frame (ST/BB) and Justin’s 26er hardtail (ST/BB). I’ve got a deposit forthcoming for a frame (29er hardtail, needs to be extra agile and belt-drive capable), and if time permits, I’ll start blueprinting that, too.
