Hi, I’m Dan. Today, I am three months away from my 38th birthday. I generally don’t feel old unless my arthritic knees are acting up. I am — I think — an unusual dude. I float somewhere between geek and jock, and I can’t seem to stop learning.
A few items about me that most of you probably already know:
- When I say I can’t stop learning, I mean it. If I’m not learning something new, I start going stir crazy. Learning how to build bicycle frames has been a god-send because it keeps my brain very very busy. I literally wake up in the middle of the night, open the iPad and start typing notes. I’m using Rosetta Stone to learn Japanese. I downloaded a bunch of free math textbooks to my iPad the other day and actually plan to work through them. If you look at my list of 101 Things in 1001 Days, you’ll see a lot of learning experiences on there.
- As you can probably guess, I also frequently bite off a lot more than I can chew.
- Musically, I like a bit of everything. The stuff I listen to a lot, though, includes 90’s grunge rock, the blues, and more modern “indie” rock.
- I prefer cats to dogs, by a long shot. I’d rather earn someone’s loyalty than to be given in blindly.
- I am clumsy and have a knack for injuring myself.
- I have too many ideas and not enough time to nail down all of them.
- I have a very weird sense of humor. When it’s on, I can make a lot of people laugh; when it’s off, I’m the only one laughing.
You left out a lot of things, Dan. Your unwavering loyalty to your friends and your complete lack of tolerance for stupidity, for example. 🙂
How’s Rosetta Japanese treating you? I’m still in love with Rosetta LA Spanish, it’s my favorite game – but I can only play it until my brain fills up!
