I have the usual litany of fears — heights (yes, army Airborne/rock climber is afraid of heights), losing a limb, and other irrational things.1
I’m also afraid that in 20 years, I’ll look back on my life and be disappointed that I didn’t do more cool stuff. That’s part of the reason behind my plan to do 101 Things in 1001 Days. So I’m endeavoring to be a great husband, and a great father (when that happens), and to ensure that not only am I doing cool things, but I am bringing my family along with me when these things start to happen.
I live in fear of getting to the end of my life and having regrets.
1. Amy J and I used to joke about trying to get onto Fear Factor and trying to convince the shrinks we were afraid of pizza, beer, and strippers.
I had totally forgotten about our well thought out Fear Factor plan.
“OH DEAR GOD NOT ANOTHER LAPDANCE. I CANNOT TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS. OMG! PIZZA TOO!”
