Fantasy Football: The Draft

The draft happened Saturday morning, and I enjoyed it. I had the first overall pick in a 10-team serpentine draft, and while he wasn’t rated number one by the Yahoo! system (which ranks solely based on last year’s performance/projected for current year), I snagged Adrian Peterson, of course. And then snagged Arian Foster and Matthew Stafford with the 20th and 21st picks. Of all the teams, I got the second-highest grade for the draft (B+), and I’m pretty happy with where The Fighting Amish are at:

QB: Matthew Stafford (DET), Tom Brady (NE), Teddy Bridgewater (MIN)
RB: Adrian Peterson (MIN), Arian Foster (HOU), Mark Ingram (NO), Knowshon Moreno (MIA)
WR: Vincent Jackson (TB), Cordarrelle Patterson (MIN), Marques Colston (NO), Rueben Randle (NYG), Jarrett Boykin (GB), Greg Jennings (MIN)
TE: Kyle Rudolph (MIN), Dennis Pitta (BAL)
DEF: Carolina, Kansas City
K: Shayne Graham (NO)

All in all, a pretty good team. I’m too heavy on Vikings, which always happens when I’m not auto-drafting, and given that they have a bye the same week as Houston, I’m out my two top RBs.

Pretty deep on receivers because they’re a bunch of fragile bitches. Maybe a little thin at TE, due to Rudolph coming back from injury last year.

Running backs? Great top two, but Ingram and Moreno? We’ll see. Moreno could be a stud in Miami, but again, who knows? Got him with the absolute last pick in the draft.

As far as quarterbacks go, I reached on Bridgewater, but I expect he’ll get the nod later this year and is going to be pretty good. Stafford throwing to Megatron should get me a ton of points. Tom Brady? Well…who knows? Could be over the hill now, but then again…he could be a sleeper. Got him with the 61st pick.

It’s my first year of seriously playing F&F (D&D for jocks) since the mid-2000’s. Going to be interesting.
