Here’s another good challenge, this one from my friend, Amy:
@fontosaurus favorite movie at ages 10, 20, 30, and 40

At Age 10 (1982)
At this point in life, I hadn’t seen a ton of movies, and I don’t have a lot of memories before the age of 10. Knowing me, and knowing that I saw the movie in the theater with my aunt Cathy, I would venture to say that my favorite movie at the time was Empire Strikes Back. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I saw the original movie in the base theater in West Berlin and had to stand in line for hours (only one screen). That the story continued amazed me. That it ended the way it did blew my mind. It was definitely my favorite movie until Return of the Jedi and Ghostbusters, which both came out when I was twelve.
At Age 20 (1992)
I don’t know that I had a favorite movie at this age — it wasn’t really feasible to have a huge collection of movies unless you taped them yourself off of cable, or enjoyed spending $50+ on a VHS tape that would eventually wear out. Plus when you moved, you had to be willing to schlep large boxes full of tapes. Given that I moved a lot, I didn’t keep a lot of tapes on-hand. In 1992, I’m going to venture a guess and say that it was a toss-up between Die Hard and The Blues Brothers, both of which I watched incessantly.
At Age 30 (2002)
Jesus…where was I in 2002? Right. Downtown Minneapolis and living with Carolyn. I think at this point, I was starting to have to fragment my favorites by genre. But at this point, I had a lot of movies that I watched repeatedly. Let’s see…The Matrix, Ocean’s 11, Finding Forrester, The Big Lebowski, Happy Gilmore, Apollo 13, High Fidelity, and The Usual Suspects.
At Age 40 (2012)
Talladega Nights, The Big Lebowski, The Avengers, Argo, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Superbad, Gran Torino, Major League, High Fidelity, Ghostbusters, and countless others.
