Here’s another interesting piece I received via Twitter. Jumi asked how I felt about this piece at MPR about how the bike community (casual riders, commuters, etc.) feels that the spandex-clad racer crowd should be more involved in the ongoing advocacy and planning issues than they currently are.

Generally speaking, yeah, we should be. However, they also need to understand that the spandex crowd already is fighting to keep racing alive as a sport. And generally speaking, we are out training on roads like we’ve always done — riding on the shoulder, fighting traffic, etc.
That said, we should definitely be doing more. Every cyclist should. I don’t know about what form that takes, or how best to do it, but it’s something that I think all racers should consider doing. I will be.
