About

Update: July 19th, 2010

I am a late-thirties guy who lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in a very nice duplex with my fianceé, Kate, and our armada of cats. I make my living as a interactive marketing professional full-time, and a bicycle mechanic part-time. This blog actually details two pseudo-hobbies that are insanely important in my life: writing and cycling.

I have lived a pretty full and exciting life to this point. I’ve served in the Army (communications specialist), been to college (English-Creative Writing and Linguistics), surfed the dot-com wave and crashed heavily on the rocks. I then made a change in career and enjoy the direction things have been heading since.

In addition to the bikes and the word processor, I design fonts, climb rocks, and try to be the Ultimate Sponge of Knowledge.

Things I can do: laugh at myself, configure a webserver, change a car’s oil, iron a shirt, build a bicycle, kick your ass at Scrabble, tie my own shoes(!), play the Guitar Hero series at Medium with a high degree of competency, make an awesome grilled cheese sandwich, make people laugh, and discuss a wide variety of complex topics including: politics, science, and philosophy.

Things I cannot do:
dance, sing, speak Russian, rebuild an engine, play a musical instrument, eat seafood, perform open-heart surgery, fly a space shuttle, kick the caffeine habit, and stop using the “f-bomb” (blame the army for that one).

Goals: turn my newly-started framebuilding hobby into a profitable side business, get a novel published, develop superpowers and use them to save the world (and probably a little personal gain on the side), witness the Vikings win a Superbowl (this might be more of a stretch than that ‘superpowers’ thing), and learn something new every day for the rest of my life.

Heck yeah, it’s me. And yeah, right now with my condition, you’d whomp up on me. And that’s alright.

As for regular readers — I’d guess it’s about a dozen, tops.

Fontocycles (name the bikes after different fonts based on their function/resemblance to particular fonts. What kind of bike do you think a Courier would be? Arial as a WSD bike maybe? An all black bike called the Gothic, or Wingding full suspension bike? The possibilities are endless)

Viking Cycles (five seconds on google shows me there WAS a Viking Cycles in England, but their last production run was on 1967)

    Yeah, that’s all I got.
